Aggie UX WordPress Theme 1.0.0 Release
Launch Date: September 12, 2025The Aggie UX WordPress Theme provides an accessible, brand-compliant foundation for building university websites. It includes 32 Aggie UX components as Gutenberg blocks, built-in analytics and SEO support, and version-controlled updates that keep your site current with the latest design and accessibility standards. The Aggie UX WordPress theme is still under active development and is not yet ready for production use.
Before You Begin
You’ll need the Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) Pro plugin, included with our university-wide license.
Installation Instructions
- Install Advanced Custom Fields Pro
- Email web@tamu.edu to request the download link and license key.
- The free ACF version will not work.
- Install the Aggie UX theme:
- Install and activate aux-wordpress.zip (parent theme).
- Install and activate aux-wordpress-child.zip (child theme).
- Configure your site:
- Verify that Gutenberg is enabled (required)
- Disable third-party page builders like Divi, Elementor, or WPBakery. These are incompatible with Aggie UX and do not meet accessibility standards.
- Managing Updates:
- Turn off automatic theme updates.
- Updates will appear in WordPress when new versions are available, install them after testing on your development site.
